Rolling Hills

Rolling Hills, 8 x 6, SOLD

The Texas Hill Country has many ranch roads that are very inviting. However, conventional wisdom is that a cattle guard in the road is the same as a gate; and crossing over it is equal to tresspassing. It is private property after all. These rolling hills were just beyond one of those cattle guards. I resisted the urge to go any further... though it was tempting!

Hi Laurel,

I love the colour in this one. And there's something completely unique about the way you paint trees, so that I can feel the light coming through that tree, and the movement,
even though it's a painting, and abstracted. I love, love, love your work.

XOXOXOBarbara

Laurel this made me laugh because I was just recently sneaking onto someone's cornfield to paint and was feeling a little sheepish about it.
But here, you didn't need to go farther!

I really admire someone that handles oil
the way you do. Wonderful brush strokes,
beautiful color and simplicity.

I enjoy your blog!

I always love your trees. You get right to the essential elements.

On a painting trip to Fredericksburg we meet up with a county commissioner that told us if the road sign is green it is a city owned road and you can drive down it. If the sign is red that means it is a private road. Following this rule we did drive some green roads that crossed over cattle guards. Now you have me wondering if we were trespassing. :?)
