Garden Hydrangea

Garden Hydrangea, 12 x 12, L. Daniel

I have watched this Hydrangea in our beach house garden go from leaves only, to little pink-tipped buds, to full-on flower. This process was duplicated in gardens all over the island and they are now in full display everywhere. They are a real garden staple in the south and have fabulously brilliant color; the soil must be perfect for them.

I really miss them in my garden. They need acidic soil and lots of moisture and warmth. Thanks for the picture, it's beautiful! Love the background.

Yes, the flower is delightful - and your soft, subtle background colors keep the eye moving about.

Laurel, this is really wonderful. I love the way you painted the flower, very simple, and unfussy.

I love these flowers. Here, especially on Cape Cod, they are a stunning range of blues to violets because of the acidic soil.
Fabulous painting.
